I have finally updated the Wordpress theme for this blog. Some of the tweaks I have made include using new HTML5 tags, such as header, nav and footer. Other changes include moving the site navigation to the top, which is designed to help viewing the blog on a mobile phone.
Other small adjustments I have made include getting rid of the categories and archives list in the navigation bar. This is counteracted by more prominent tags and categories under the post titles. Additionally, I have cleaned out the home page by getting rid of the related posts and comments (all these are still accessible from each individual post page).
On my HTC Desire, the blog is readable with a normal font size, though it is better with a large font size selected – which is my default setting anyway – and in landscape mode.
On my mobile, the font size is smaller in portrait mode and I’m not sure why. It seems that the header (the bit that says “Cogitas Blog: Google Android, programming and web design.”) is determining the font size. By that, I mean that the sentence fills up the full width of the screen and the font size is adjusting itself accordingly for it to do that, and then the same font size is passed on to the rest of the page. I’m not sure why because when I view it on a desktop browser, the header spreads onto two lines when the window width decreases, keeping the font size constant across all window sizes. Does that make sense to anybody?
